Software Metrics are Not
Just about Bugs!

Software Metrics are not only about defects and tracking closure. Using the appropriate measurements and not using just enough is the key to making informed decisions in the planning, execution and delivery of software throughout the project lifecycle.

This presentation begins with a discussion of the types of metrics that provide usable information as well as practical methods including setting the trigger points for taking action. Real life examples will be given to reinforce the topic. Tony will wrap it all together by showing how and why metrics are integrated with the overall software project through a quality assurance planning. The presentation will finish with strategies for using the measurement results to manage risk, conduct high confidence re-plans and facilitate communications through solid management reporting.

Speaker: Pat Sordill

Topic: Listening Skills

Listening is a critical aspect of communication, yet, we often hear the wrong message or forget what we’ve heard. As a result, we miss opportunities, find ourselves in conflict with others or end up doing extra work to correct mistakes or misunderstandings. During this introduction to effective listening, you will have an opportunity to assess your current listening behaviors and habits, identify skills and strategies to improve your listening and learn ways to develop your ability to increase retention and communicate effectively with others.

A graduate of Boston University with both a BSBA and EdM, Pat Sordill is founder and president of SORDILL CONSULTING, a consulting firm specializing in customized training and development services.

Workshop attendance earns 0.3 RU towards ASQ recertification. ReCertification Credit will not be granted for the workshop if arriving after 5:45
