Dennis Bennett Scholarship
ASQ Merrimack Valley Section 102

ASQ Merrimack Valley Section 102 established the Dennis Bennett Scholarship in the fall of 1998. The scholarship is named in honor of Dennis Bennett, a long time member of ASQ, past Chair, Vice-Chair and Arrangements Chair for many years.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to those who qualify. Scholarships are limited to no more than two (2) per ASQ calendar year. The dollar amount of $1000 is awarded for each scholarship. A selected candidate cannot receive both scholarships within any one year.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Eligible candidates are ASQMV Section members, spouses, children, stepchildren, grandchildren and adopted children of an ASQMV Section member in good standing. Proof of eligibility will be verified through ASQ Headquarters member listing and audited monthly by ASQMV Audit Chairperson.
  
• Candidates must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree or graduate program at an accredited college or university in the United States.
• Candidates are expected to continue in school the entire academic year without interruption.

Selection Criteria:

• Names of candidates may be entered into the pool at each monthly section meeting (one per meeting per meeting attendee). Entry slips will be provided at the registration table. Candidates will be selected using a straight lottery and drawn from the present years audited entrants. Lottery will take place at the May meeting and presented at our June meeting. Two runner-up candidates (runner-up one and two) will also be chosen in the event the original recipients cannot fulfill the eligibility requirements for one reason or another.

Notification of Recipient:

• The recipients will be notified in writing following the selection. The recipients must respond in writing within two weeks of selection notification indicating the student's acceptance of the scholarship and provide the required school information that will be entered on the check. Taxes are the responsibility of the recipient.

Award Requirements:

• The selected candidates must present proof of enrollment (Student full name, student ID and address of business office for the institution) to receive the award. Payment will only be made directly to the educational institution. The student can request the funds be applied to books when other financial aid may be impacted.
• The selected candidate authorizes the award announcement on ASQMV website or other media.
